Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Diaosu Nanshan, Wutumeiren (Urt Moron) Township, Golmud City, Qinghai. It was named by Wang Zengji in 1982.


Lithology and Thickness

Sandstone and Limestone. Lower part consists of sandstone-conglomerate and marl. Upper part is of limestone. Thickness 53.9 m.

Lower contact

Unconformable contact with the underlying Devonian or even older stratum

Disconformable contact with the overlying Diaosu Fm

Fossils

Containing two Coral assemblages: Kueichouphyllum sinense-Palaeosmilia stutchburyi in the lower part; Dibunophyllum bipartitum in the upper part.


Age 

late Early Carboniferous. Lexicon chart shows as upper Visean-Serpukhovian and Coeval with Wutumeiren Fm in this same interval. For graphic purposes to avoid overlap, polygon displayed as upper part of that interval.
